ABOUT US


​Norma Fanning-South joined the company in 2014 as the Chief Operating Officer, working closely with Rick South.  Together they worked to provide excellent quality and professionalism in their service for the local community.  

Upon Rick’s passing in February 2020, Norma Fanning-South became sole owner and operator of South Roofing and Contracting LLC.  Honoring Rick's memory, Norma and our hardworking team continue to provide the high level of commitment Rick always had for his company and his customers. 

​The main office and showroom located in Independence, Kansas provides a convenient, central location for servicing southeast Kansas, northeast Oklahoma and southwest Missouri.
​Rick South was in the roofing business for 30+ years.  Rick began his career as a gofer at a job site where he learned to install shingles.  He expanded his knowledge to other roofing materials and installation practices as well as other building trades, including framing, carpentry, concrete, new construction and remodel work.  His knowledge, drive and natural leadership skills moved him into a foreman position.

Rick founded A1 Roofing in Wichita, Kansas in 1991.  He sold the company in 1994, moved his family to southeast Kansas and opened South Roofing.  Over the years the company grew to include siding, guttering and windows.  The name was later changed to South Roofing and Contracting LLC.
